「クライチェックは、コートに出て行くことを考えただけで怪我しかねない」（by　マッケンロー）・・・って、そんなに怪我の多い人だったんだ。

怪我と闘って、敗れた・・・と言って現役引退したクライチェク。あの引退会見は泣けました。

選手として一番つらかったのは２００１年から２００２年にかけて肘の怪我で２０ヶ月大会に出られなかった時期。しかし、そのリハビリ時期に奥様（元ボンドガールのダフネ・デッカー）に出逢ったのだとか。

現在はロッテルダム大会のディレクターとして大活躍中ですが、さらに次のステップとしてオランダ初のスポーツ大臣になるべく政治の世界に足を踏み入れた模様。


ちなみに、オランダでは「リチャード（リカルドではなく）・クライチェ（ッ）ク」と呼ばれています。

John McEnroe once said: “Richard Krajicek can get injured just thinking about
going out to play.” The worst moments centred on injuries and probably the
toughest chapter was the elbow that kept me out for 20 months in 2000 and
2001. It was agony and essentially killed my spirit; I could not even brush
my teeth or slice bread. But everything is there for a reason and during one
of the rehabs from injury I met my wife Daphne (Deckers, the former Bond
girl).

politics with the intention of becoming our country’s first minister of
sport.
