「協会の援助を当たり前のように受けて、それに見合うだけの努力をしてない選手もいると思う」
つい先日ヘンマンも同じようなこと言ってましたね。
そして、ジョコビッチ。
彼がミュンヘンにあるテニスアカデミーに入ったのは１２才の時。
ジョコ：
「１週間は両親がいてくれたけど、その後はひとりだった。１２才の子供をよその国に送るのは簡単なことじゃなかった。スポンサーも協会（の援助）もなかった。僕のテニス修業期間はちょうど僕の国が一番大変だった時期だった。戦争があって、良くないことがたくさん起きていて、テニスどころじゃなかった」
「僕の父はリッチじゃなかった。何度も大きなリスクを負ってくれた。経済的にものすごく大変だった時でも、父は僕には何も言わなかった。僕がテニスに集中できてハッピーなようにってね。（今の自分があるのは）何もかも両親のおかげだ。」
O’Brien admits British players lack desire

With no federation support or money, he left home at 12 to
follow his dream, going to the Niki Pilic academy in Germany.
"My parents stayed for a week and then I was on my own," he
said "It wasn't easy to send a kid of 12 to another country. We
had no sponsor, no federation. I was developing during the most
difficult time for our country, there was war and lots of bad
things happening and tennis was nothing.
"My father was not rich. Lots of times he was risking
everything. He didn't tell me when they were in a really
difficult financial position because he wanted to keep my focus
on what I did and make me happy...I owe my parents a lot."
